Google has been trying to get WhatsApp to stop using its ads in its news section.
As part of the effort, the company is adding a new privacy statement to the app’s privacy settings.
Google’s privacy statement reads: Whatsapp may collect certain information from you that may be relevant to your interests.
For example, you may be able to opt out of receiving ads by not using the app.
The information we collect may include your name, email address, phone number, and other personal information.
We may also collect and store other information about you, such as your geographical location and other information that we collect when you use the app, including your IP address.
By default, WhatsApp will not share this information with third parties, except for ads that you opt-in to.
We will continue to improve our ad management to protect your privacy.
We recommend that you review our privacy policies for more information about what information we may collect from you and how it may be used.
If you have any questions, please contact our Privacy Officer at [email protected]
