Robbie Keane will be on the sidelines for the next two weeks, but he’s not going to miss the big game against Sunderland because of a minor groin injury.
Article Continued BelowAdvertisingThe 26-year-old, who joined Sunderland in the summer, was stretchered off the field on Wednesday and is now recovering in hospital in the city of Sunderland.
The injury was discovered after the match with Sunderland and it is not believed he suffered a concussion, according to the Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce.
It is expected to be a couple of weeks before Keane returns to training.
He will miss Saturday’s Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur at the Stadium of Light.
The club is also working to try and bring Keane back for a friendly against Manchester United at Wembley on Saturday, when the two sides will face each other for the first time.
