Which Whatsapps app is available for free to anyone?
According to the latest figures from comScore, which data provider also reports on user data, Whatsapp’s app base is more than 80% free.
However, it still has a growing list of paid apps, including the likes of Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Viber, and WhatsApp.
In total, there are over 200 paid apps for Whatsapps, including Facebook, Vimeo, Netflix, Instagram and Twitter.
The data provider, which was founded in 2014, has previously reported that users spend about US$7.5 billion on Whatsapps.
It estimates that there are around 1.2 billion active users, which is about 10% of the total global mobile user base.
What’s more, according to comScore’s latest data, users are increasingly turning to mobile for all their messaging, social media, and other needs.
For instance, in the last 12 months, the number of Whatsapp-enabled mobile phone users grew from 9 million to 12 million, and the number using Whatsapps grew from about 6 million to over 9 million.
Whatsapps also reported a rise in the number from 1.3 billion in September to 1.8 billion in November, which has helped it to grow in its share of the global mobile phone market.
Whatsapp has also become a big business, as it makes use of data to offer ads, but it has also attracted a lot of criticism for being too aggressive in targeting ads to users with poor performance in terms of accuracy.
WhatsApps has also had to face pressure from rivals like Google and Apple over its data collection practices.
It is also facing a lot more competition from rival messaging apps such as WeChat, which makes use a lot less data.
However as the numbers from comscore show, Whatsapps remains an attractive app to many users, and it continues to attract users to its app store, as well as to other services such as Viber and Kik.
